The proposal for the JAXA “Kibo on board Flagship Mission” has been accepted. Cool flame dynamics of SAF(Sustainable Aviation Fuel) will be clarified through the project.
DCU2 is assembled with TEM-JCM2 and integrated system tests are going on at AirbusDS in Oyten, Germany.
Prof. Suganuma and Prof. Nomura (CIT, Nihon Univ.) together with Aibus Defence and Space team completed a seried of TEXUS-60 flight experimental module test successfully. It is going to be launched in mid Jan. ’24 after additional functional tests in Germany.
Mr. Shinji Maeda is giving a public lecture organized by Japan Aeronautic Association in 29th October, ’23.
Guest researcher, Mr. Fumiya Arai, published a paper “Study on Nonlinear Dynamics Using the State Space of Combustion Oscillation in a Rocket Combustor” in Transaction of The Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences. A new technique using deep learning to analyze the combustion dynamics in rocket combustors are presented.

Graduate student, Masaki Ohtani, presented the paper “Influence of Reforming by Non-Equilibrium Plasma on Spontaneous Ignition of n-Heptane/Ethanol/N2/O2 Mixture” at the JSAE/SAE meeting.
Prof. Cheng Huang gave a lecture on the latest reduced modelling of rocket combustors. Thanks for visiting us!
Mr. Kazuki Iemura published his work, “Analysis of spatial-temporal dynamics of cool flame oscillation phenomenon occurred around a fuel droplet array by using variational auto-encoder,” in Proceedings of the Combustion Institute. The work is on the cool flame oscillation around a droplet array and have done by the Japan-German joint research project, Phoenix-II, together with the authors from JAXA and CIT, Nihon Univ.
