About

Mission

Combustion technology is a key to control the energy release in highly-loaded aerospace engines.  The combustion in those engines are often unstable and may cause a destructive pressure wave.  Our mission is to lead the safer and the more predictable design of the kind of combustion by clarifying the mechanism behind the generation of the strong pressure wave.  Our on-going research covers a variaty of engines, i.e. from rocket to reciprocating engines.  All these uses highly pressurized condition and local ignition that yields abrupt heat release.  The classical steady solution of deflagration/detonation wave can not predict the occurrence of strong pressure wave and challenges are made for further understandings of the kind of combustion.
